Official Announcement
this is the text of our official announcement from our home church pulpit
Mission conferences are always challenging weeks – not only because they are physically exhausting, but more importantly, because they force us to examine the temporal nature of our lives in light of the eternal nature of the Kingdom of God.
I’ve been reminded this week that nothing done in faith, for the Kingdom of God, will be wasted; not one prayer, not one dollar, and not one minute. If we believe that, then we press on in missions with our prayers, and support, and our time; waiting for the revealing of the glorious tapestry of God’s Kingdom, not fully realized until Christ returns to claim His bride.
As Jesus continues to build His Kingdom on earth, however, we can see the success of the Great Commission in the expression of faithful and local churches.
Nearly 10 years ago, the Lord began to stir my heart with a desire to to serve Him in full time ministry. At the time, our family had no idea what that would eventually look like. So I set off to start seminary while working full time and continuing to raise our family. After finishing seminary in 2020, we found ourselves presented with several ministry opportunities that we just didn’t feel strongly about. It was probably a mix of fear and comfort that would always cause us to find a reason to not leave our current situation. And so we got into a new pattern, one of saying “not yet”. However, late last year, I felt a restlessness that I needed to step out in faith and use the gifts and desires that the Lord placed on my heart 10 years ago.
Although it was sort of in the back of my mind for a long time, I was almost afraid to raise the idea of planting a church in Jefferson, Georgia, because I knew I wouldn’t be able to find a good reason to say no; the Lord had pressed me into a corner.
I went to the Session and asked them to pray about planting a church in Jefferson. My Gideon’s fleece rested on three things;
That this church plant would be a daughter church of CMPC – that we would be able to start off with a strong connection and lifeline to our home church.
That we would be able to take families from CMPC in order to re-plant and multiply them in Jefferson – I didn’t want to go without a core group and we wanted to grow CMPC, not with a bigger building, but by multiplying in new places.
To discern if now was a good time was to plant a church despite our home church being in a pastoral transition season.
After about a month of prayer and consideration, the Session overwhelmingly gave us their blessing to move forward. The Session understood that the mission never stops and the journey never ends; this is who we are at CMPC. We are a church committed to missions; local and global.
Let me say this plainly, we do not want to leave Chestnut Mountain; this has been our home for over 20 years; but we do want to be sent by you to plant a church and multiply the Body of Christ in Jefferson.
If I had time, I would tell you about the explosive growth up the I-85 corridor that makes Jefferson a great place to plant a PCA church. I will simply say that now, more than ever, we need faithful, reformed, and confessional churches committed to the authority of Scripture, the faithful preaching of the Word, and a desire to the take the Gospel to the ends of the earth.
I am excited to officially announce that we are embarking on a journey to plant a daughter church in Jefferson, Georgia; a mission work of Chestnut Mountain Presbyterian. We are just getting started so most of our questions are still unanswered, but here are some ways you can partner with us:
Please pray – we do not want to labor in vain and we need the prayers of His people to go before us – we cannot go in our own strength.
Partner with us financially – We will go, if you will send us with your prayers and financial support.
Finally – the Lord may be calling some of you to come with us, as missionaries to Jefferson; either permanently or for a season.
Not one minute, one dollar, one prayer will be wasted in the cause of Christ.
Soli Deo Gloria,
Jason
